AmaNORD’s tile workshop is located in a former ceramics factory, in a village called Keramika, just a ten-minute drive from Kuldīga’s Old Town. This is where I make tiles inspired by nature, and where I invite people to make their own.
What a Workshop Looks Like
I’ll meet you at the factory entrance, and we’ll walk over to my studio. I’ll tell you how I started making tiles, and where that decision has taken me.
From there, we’ll go on a tour of the old factory. I’ll show you the equipment, the kilns, and the ceramics that used to be made here, and tell you about the people who worked in this building and how things were done.
Back in the studio, you’ll prepare your own clay, choose a tile shape, and create your own design. This part is simply about being creative together — no experience needed.
If you don’t have a wall to put your tiles on, that’s not a problem. Many people use them as candle holders, a cup coaster, or a small piece of art.
About a month later, once your tiles are glazed and fired twice, I’ll send them to you.
Good to Know
The full experience — the tour and the tile-making together takes about 1.5–2 hours. Workshops are held in Latvian and English, and a German interpreter can be arranged on request.
Both kids and dogs are welcome. Bring the whole family, four-legged members included.
